WOYWW May 19th 2015

Morning Dear Readers, sorry i missed Monday it was our anniversary and we took a day of doing nothing at all and that meant no computer too.  It was lovely to take the time to do nothing at all we watched TV and films and ate our favourite foods and that was it until it was time to collect the children from school, bliss.

But back to today and it is Wednesday so that means its time for the world wise snoop around the crafty world, now i took my picture on Tuesday morning because i am feeling a little under the weather today so have given up on this layout for now for fear of spoiling it i shall come back to it when my headache has gone, I'm sure the stormy weather is to blame and once that passes all will be right again. I love having a craft room now meaning that i can just leave works in progress and close the door on them until i can come back to them.

So this is an arms stretched up in air picture whilst sat on my chair.

From this side <--- i have my new love my Webster’s craft mate folio with all my journaling pens and other essentials {tea bags, post its } under that is the paper pad I'm using for this layout its a craftwork cards one themed for London.  some embellishments that go with the theme, my phone a note from Mr.C which he leaves for the days he starts work before we’re up.  My trimmer with a picture for this layout of one of my daughters with a Shaun the sheep from the trail in London atm – i am scrapping pictures taken this past Saturday, get me for being on the ball! Ha! i could let you think that it was me being organised where as actually it was because i went to an all day crop event on Sunday and i couldn't decide what pictures to take so when my daughter came back from her trip to London with a camera full that was my decision made

Next to my trimmer just peaking into shot are two dry wipe magnet boards that i just got from Smiths {BOGOF} waiting to go up on the side of my stamp book cases for my to do lists etc.  Then in the middle i have my layout done project life style but with normal scrapbook papers that i cut to fit. I like making cards for my project life style layouts i can co-ordinate them if i want to do a matching tradition layout and also they can be a bit more personal to us and our albums.

On the window sill is my clock, my little ramekins of bits in progress usually bits i have stamped, coloured and die cut that are waiting their next step, a box with some bits and pieces that i am putting aside for some RAKs, my crystal effects{use this A lot!} a little brass bell – surprising how quickly the children respond to a bell ringing than you shouting their names! My heart shaped little pot of essentials – coco butter, lip balm, cuticle balm, hair brush etc., and my little house.

At the moment i am in the process of saving up some bits and pieces so that i can join in with pocket letters, i really like receiving snail mail and i am hoping that this may develop into pen pals with some people and ‘meeting’ new people if anyone would like to swap a pocket letter with me then do get in touch

WOYWW? May 13th

Hello Dear Reader and fellow Deskers, i hope that you are well? Its been lovely having some sunshine at the mo; so nice for it to be so light and bright.

I took a few different shots of my desk throughout Tuesday; cos i kept thinking right snap a picture just in case i forgot later but then i forgot that i had taken the ‘just in case i forgot photo’ and took another i did this twice!!  Not enough chocolate that's my excuse and I'm making sure i rectify that now! lol!

So this is my desk through the day – lol!  I spent yesterday doing some scrapping in the project life style but instead of using the pre-brought cards i made my own out of scrapbook papers, you should see the state of the floor! Littered with the cut outs from swallow-tailing banners.

I had lots of scrap bits left over so in an attempt not to hoard them i decided to make some extra 3x4 cards out of them.

I think i shall try and make a habit of it as it was a great scraps buster and i have something usable at the end of it.

WOYWW? May 6th 2015

Hello Dear Readers and fellow Deskers; i hope that you are all well today and that the wind of yesterday didn’t effect you too badly.  The poor trees out the front of our house were bent nearly double at some points yesterday, t’was a tad windy!
Thank you for all your well wishes last week i am starting to feel better thank you and Wednesday morning after the school run whilst i was desk hopping i received a lovely parcel from Hey Little Magpie to cheer me up what could be better than lots of lovely scrapbook goodies? And….I've even used some of the papers already and made 4 layouts!! Unheard of! Usually i just buy the paper then i think I'll save that for such and such and it never gets used!

So here is my desk as of 9pm Tuesday Night


So from the door, my to do list with all the jobs ticked off {so satisfying!} the layouts made this weekend, stapler, a few quick notecards on the window sill and a couple of Project Life card kits waiting to be put away. On the other side of the cutting mat is a layout that i want to make but the papers just aren't working for me at the moment. 
I took some advice from the head Desker Julia and i ‘kitted’ my new papers into page kits simply by popping the papers that work well together into bags and it seems to be working as i am using them.  I  got a couple of grab bags of 12x12 papers from Hey Little Magpie {£3.50 for 20} and out of 2 bags there was one paper i didn’t like either side of.  Great brands too Amy Tangerine, Studio Calico, Heidi Swapp to name but a few.

WOYWW? April 29th 2015

Helloo there Dear Reader and Fellow Deskers, i hope that you are well? I am shocked at how quickly the year is passing i mean this is the last woyww of April already?! How did that happen??!! So this post is a little picture heavy {sorry Julia} but it is all relevant promise!

I have a bone to pick with my fellow deskers……you jinxed me!! So many people said they couldn't have an open pot of sequins cos they would end up knocking it flying……well guess what i did Monday?

Luckily i had not long finished tidying up so it didn't take long for me to scoop it back in, and i shall be looking for a nice jar lol!  But what a pretty mess

I was asked what a sum tsum is, its a Disney collection toy they’re about £3 each and they stack on top of each other and their bellies are screen cleaners. You can find them at the Disney Store here’s mine;

I was also asked for a window view, so i took this on a day that it wasn't too sunny so that i could actually get the picture rather than a frame of dark!

{here is one through the net curtain, and without some camera/net juggling to grab that!}

You can see part of the garden from my window, the swing set, veg patch and just below my window is a window box full of roses that my hubby planted just for me.

SO shall i show you my desk now?

Another different angle, i haven’t been feeling well this week so i haven’t done any crafting at all apart from knocking the pot a sequins over that’s the most action my room has seen since Friday!

So in this corner of my desk you can see my A4 cardstock in pretty magazine files i found at sainsbury’s of all places. My A4 cardstock is in A4 grip seal bags by the colour and i put my scraps in punched pockets usually one for general scraps then one for the scraps from designing a class so that if i need a piece i can just grab that class pocket, once the class is designed and prepped they go into the usual scraps pockets. I also have my notebooks that i use all the time for ideas, notes etc and my scentsy wax warmer, a portable dvd player, Gilmore Girls dvds and the box of smelly tissues have been re-homed here. There is also a bunny on the lamp base that is usually next to my bed but my youngest decided that i might get lonely when they were at school so bunny should sit on my desk so that i wasn’t lonely anymore!

Talking of the littlest miss; yesterday morning i couldn’t find her anywhere and was just at the point of panic when i came across her…..

WOYWW? April 22nd 2015

Happy Wednesday Dear Reader and fellow Deskers I hope that you are all well?  I must say i am loving these lovely sunny days that we are having at the moment, its so nice to see the sun.

So here is my desk on Tuesday afternoon; the only thing that has changed this morning is that i have started to tidy it up, since being in the new craft room i have been making myself tidy up before starting a new project, and for the most part its working …mostly! lol

Under the orange card stock is a card sample for my next class, the Elsa picture was from when i was colouring with my girls over the weekend i need to finish her sleeves i was teaching my eldest how to make shadows and how you add different tones, all with Crayola pencils {quite impressed as only children's art supplies} box of smelly menthol tissues {my fave}, ideas not book {covered by me} big pot a sequins, lots of left over patterned paper. and my to do list.

 

Cor a lot going on really in that picture! I shall be finishing tidying up today in between desk hopping, so that i can start planning and prepping my next card.

WOYWW? March 14th 2015

Good Morning Dear Reader and Fellow Deskers, i do hope that you are well and have been enjoying sunny weather also. It has been so lovely to see the sun, enjoy its warmth and the girls playing in the back garden.
Here’s my desk for today;

On my desk are so WIPs cards that i must get round to finishing i even used some of the shrink plastic bits from last week. It seems to take me a week or so between me colouring and the bits becoming a thing! 2 phones as always, packet of crisps for sustenance of course.  All sorts of odds and ends my basket of Lawn Fawn stamps and matching dies {quickly becoming my favourites}
No Pj’s for me today as girls are back to school, and i shall be spending the day with my Grandparents, but i have a Pj day planned for Sunday I will be desk hopping until they arrive and then shall finish off in the evening.

Build Update {it’s Finished!!}

Hello Dear Reader, i hope that this post finds you well.  Well as some of you may have realised my craft room has been finished for a few weeks now; as i have been working in there and it has been the work desk that i have been sharing for woyww for quite a few weeks now.
So i thought i best finish up my series of build update posts with the last photo before i show you my room tour in the next few weeks.

So really the last thing to go up was the shelves, these shelves have been in every home we have lived in since 2007 and have always stored my craft stuff, its nice to have them out in my new craft room too to continue the tradition.

So from here on its a case of filling the shelves; which i have done and moved them around a few times already and working in the space to see what needs tweaking.
Now i could have had everything finished for when i moved in but i wasn't sure what extras i would need, like for the kallax cubes a lot of people recommended the fabric box drawers but i think for me i would find the drawer inserts more useful so when i next get around to going to Ikea that's what i will get.  Plus i think it is much better when a space evolves organically so that it is your space and really fits you.

WOYWW? April 7th 2015

Good Morning Dear Readers and Fellow WOYWW Deskers, i hope that you are all well? Lovely sunny day yesterday made such a change from all the dark clouds of last week, of course Mr C is back at work now that the sun has deigned to make an appearance, typical!
Ah well its a duvet day for us today probably our last one of the Easter holidays as we have visitors tomorrow and Saturday, so lovely clean comfy pj’s and I'm done today girls are watching DVD’s and I'm going to desk hop – bliss!   

So here’s my desk today {well Tuesday evening – 6.30pm look at all that light!! love my craft room!!} i hope to have this mess tidied up so that i can start using the bits that i had played with over the weekend

We had a child free night and few days as the girls went for a sleep over with my grandparents; so we had a quick sort out of the little pressie stockpile that i have been gathering again since January – nothing over the top just as i see something the girls would like or on sale i get it and squirrel it away meaning on less job on  the to do list come Christmas And while i was doing that i came across some shrink plastic! I can’t remember the last time i used shrink plastic so i had to scurry down to the craft room and start stamping straight away.  I love playing with shrink plastic its one of those things i loved as a child and i love now that i can still use it in my crafts.

So that's what is happening on the grid paper, i have a tile there to heat them on and have popped other blocks to stop them from running away from the heat gun! lol The missing tin of pencils arrived finally on Saturday not had time to use them yet, this is a set of blues and browns based on ocean colours.  A basket of Lawn Fawn stamps and dies, my Eeyore Tsum Tsum that the girls brought me, my ladybug pencil sharpener, and the essentials; big bottle of ice cold water, it burns calories you know cos the body has to heat it up and means that i can justify my other essential Waitrose strawberry laces both the fizzy and non fizzy type yup I've not grown up! lol

O we did get to Cinderella last week, and it is a beautiful film costumes are to die - for the wedding dress, oh if they release that they will make a killing as every bride would love to wear it. It was a great version of the tale i would recommend it we already have it on pre-order for when it comes out on blu-ray and we have the dress up costumes as of about 30mins after we saw it the girls got Daddy to buy them for them! lol {soft touch }

WOYWW? March 25th 2015

Happy Wednesday Dear Reader, and that means its time for another snoop around the world via craft desks :)  Such a lovely group of people to be involved with i love my Wednesdays

Last week a lot of people commented on the zippy bag i had on my desk asking what was inside……Well it was inky sponges lol! Lots of people thought that it may have been fruit :)

I have finally finished sorting and have moved all of my craft bits in now, well apart from my lace stuff and sewing machine as they have comfy homes already it would be a shame to uproot them

This was my desk at 6pm last night, no extra lighting as it was still lovely and light in there for me to potter about, due to the sorting i hadn’t got much crafting done, but i was having a good look on pinterest so that counts right? lol! I plan to get some crafting done today i have some stamps i want to play with so hopefully i will have some bits to show you next week :)

WOYWW? March 3rd 2015

HAPPY 300th!! What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday, Dear Reader!

Wow!! that is a mile stone! i love taking part in WOYWW as i am as nosy moo and this gives me a good excuse to have a snoop about.  Plus who else could understand working in an increasingly smaller space whilst performing the scoop and dump than fellow crafters. And the WOYWW’ers are a lovely bunch of people too. 

Thank you to all who left messages about my girls last week the big one was feeling much better by the afternoon and the little one was feeling very pleased with herself for going into school without big sis and i didn’t have to sit through Frozen once – bonus!

So on to my desk, well you have a two-fer this week as you have my desk now and my brand spanking new desk in my brand spanking new craft room!! eeep!!

Now this was my original photo for today taken Tuesday afternoon so that i could be ready; i knew i wasn’t going to be up to much so not much would change.  My smash books are out as i was looking through the pictures, H had made me a blu-tac man so that i wasn’t lonely while they were at school {she’s 4} he even has a belly button!  There is also a lot of new Lawn Fawn stamps and dies as i went to Stamperama on Sunday and was pleased to find these on one of the stands. 

Stamperama was a bit of a disappointment though unfortunately, it is the first time i had been in about 4 years and there was very few stands there aprox no more than 20 so not as big as it had once been which was a shame, but we got what we needed and was back in the car within the hour and on the way home.

Now back to the desk, Mr C came home and decided that he needed me to empty my shelves as he was going to move them out to the new craft room……

resulting in this big mess! Blu-tac man may have got a little squashed in the process.

But this mess did mean that i can share this photo with you as my worktop was delivered and installed yesterday and now my shelves are up so i can start moving in the non-perishables into my craft room! Yippee!!

My Hubby has re-used my shelves instead of buying new as i like that they have been in every house I’ve lived in since i left home and held my craft stuff in all of them, i suppose i could call it up-cycling as that seems to be the buzz word these days.  I don’t actually need the lamp as my daylight strip light is more than sufficient but it would feel odd now not to have the lamp on the desk.  This is how i have left it for Tuesday night and i shall keep loading up the storage as the week goes on and as soon as we have a nice dry mild day i shall have the plumbing finished as we need to drain the system {so they tell me?} and it will be warm and i can be out there permanently paper and all! :)

Build Update {Carpets, Units and Desktop}

Good Morning Dear Reader; i do hope that you are well its lovely and bright today love all this sunshine, can’t wait for the warmer weather to come.
Lots of exciting bits happening in the craft room this last week; the floor, carpets, base units and Mr C, has just delivered the worktop :)

{the floor was boarded out with MDF and then carpeted in a navy and the skirting boards to finish}

{the base units are kallax from IKEA, to add extra plugs I've added a switched socket to the wall; i got my priorities sorted and make sure that my stereo is in its new home ;)}

Look at all that worktop space! I can not wait to get out there and get crafting the worktop is 2 and a half times the size of my current workspace.  This evening Mr C is going to secure it all and then next on the list is shelves i think i shall be in before Mr C’s original goal of the beginning of the summer holidays.

Build Update {Walls and Ceiling}

Hello Dear Reader, i thought i would stop by and give you a quick update on how the craft room build is progressing.
As it stands today there are only 2 structural/main jobs to complete, the floor and the plumbing.
Mr.C finished the walls, ceiling and electrics this week.
Luckily there wasn’t too much in  the way of electrics only moving the light fixture and putting a strip light up so that i have the best light no matter what the day’s weather is like.

The walls are painted a greige colour {neither beige nor grey} the ceiling is tongue and groove which has been painted with white eggshell.  The other wood within the room is white gloss.
You would not believe the difference that painting the ceiling white made on the light in the room, it bounces so much back from the strip light so at least i will have no problems colour-matching in there :)
Next weekend will be taken up with Mr. C laying the flooring down ready for the carpet fitter {my Dad} to come and measure up the following week.
I am unsure at the moment which flooring to have i like the idea of having nice warm carpet but vinyl will be much easier to clean.  Which would you choose?
